Our mission is clear: How might we disrupt the commercial vehicle landscape by 2040? It's time to harness the power of innovation and reimagine the very essence of vehicle dynamic functions—traction, braking, suspension, and steering. The challenge is set, and the possibilities are limitless.

The event is open to Cummins-Meritor employees, Cummins R&T employees and Accelara traction employees, with a focus on engineers and hardware designers.

Skills and expertise are required in the following areas:

Inverters

Batteries

Steering & Suspension

Brakes

Axles

We are looking for teams of up to 6 people. 

We will also consider individuals who will then be matched into a team for the event.

The Goal

How can we disrupt the commercial vehicle industry by 2040?

It will take some serious thought and imagination, but how can we predict the needs, the legislative requirements, and the design of the vehicles of tomorrow? If so, where do our current products stand, and how have they evolved? Do they even exist on the vehicle of tomorrow? Think beyond what is currently being offered in the market. 

This Hackathon stands as our opportunity to reimagine the dynamic functions of vehicles—such as traction, braking, suspension, and steering—to deliver optimal value to our customers. This is not just a chance to innovate but a call to redefine our future in the industry. It challenges us to envision a landscape where our products not only thrive but actively shape the course of the commercial vehicle sector in the years leading up to 2040.

Our key markets are experiencing significant changes. The emergence of new types of powertrains, advancements in autonomous driving, and the rapid expansion of connectivity and related services are set to bring about unprecedented changes and heightened expectations among both our customers and end users.

In an era that is being defined as the ‘messy middle’ how are we going to prepare and protect ourselves for the future? And how does our business need to change, pivot, and adapt to survive and thrive for the future?
